"I'm in love with the real and original Monika from Doki Doki Literature club, so only the original will do!"
In short, a strong attachment to the original character and a desire to be around them.
As I understand it, there is a difference between hearing voices of tulpa and schizophrenia, so I think it's not that you would be turning it into something positive

It might be something in parallel

Your tulpa will probably be experiencing the symptoms, too(edited)

I have schizophrenia (got banned from the other big tulpa discord for it, this place is nicer anyhow) I wonder if it's possible to turn it into something positive that's aware. Not that that's what I can do since my medication is working decently at the moment.
Luminesce:No, it's not. A huge reason we tend to turn people with schizophrenia away from tulpamancy is that they think their tulpa can "control" chaotic thoughts, and putting that faith in and growing attached to your tulpa tends to open you up to being hurt when things go wrong more than if you'd just worked on ignoring invasive random thoughts to begin with.(edited)
1:40 AM
There are some tulpamancers who have schizophrenia and seem to get along separating them from invasive thoughts okay, but there have also been others who experienced that scenario I just mentioned, where they only end up hurting themselves in the end. Generally, tulpamancy isn't recommended to those with schizophrenia, or even people who just have trouble being deeply bothered by invasive thoughts in the first place.(edited)
1:41 AM
It varies by person if tulpamancy will actually work out for you, so (at least here) it's not simply a brick wall of "No" - but we won't encourage it as an aid for dealing with schizophrenia in any way whatsoever. It's basically "At your own risk"(edited)
I'm glad the intrusive thoughts (which i get more often than voices) are mostly under control. An average experience is a short chat with my tulpa with maybe an intrusive thought telling me to jump in front of a train a couple times a day. I'm glad it's under control so that I can actually focus on my tulpa's development.
1:43 AM
Yes I'm taking medication and it's helped a lot.
1:44 AM
I'm glad it didn't stifle my tulpa's development as a catch-all treatment for similar phenomena.

Luminesce: Basically, practicing tulpamancy is just more dangerous if you have schizophrenia as you're choosing to get emotionally attached to imagined experiences. Some people aren't able to keep their experiences of their tulpa separated from chaotic thoughts, beliefs and feelings caused by schizophrenia, and in those cases their attachment to their tulpa only causes distress.(edited)
I belive there is a sistematic problem with schizofrenic people feeling better and trying to stop medication by themselves... Ive read something... Definitely shoudnt do that of course.
Luminesce: Schizophrenia generally entails lack of control over invasive thoughts, difficulty in differentiating meaningful thought/internal experiences from chaotic random ones.
Tulpamancy can cause distress for people who just suffer from invasive thoughts that deeply bother them as well, but those people do have better chances of tulpamancy working out as a positive experience, eventually(edited)
that happens with literally everything. You feel bad, you take the medicine, then think you are feeling good so you stop taking it. Its just because there is this idea that its shameful to rely on medication. My mom did that to me repeatedly and I grew up without mediciation even though I had it right there for me because I was told that I needed to work towards not needing it

Luminesce: Again, it's just risky, the extent of which varies by person. Just keep in mind you're in control of your internal experiences and do not let them hurt you. If your experience of your tulpa ever causes you distress, you have to consider stopping practicing tulpamancy.(edited)

(Not talking about medication at all - obviously, don't do anything your doctor hasn't told you to do)
I've experienced strange noises and sensations coming from my body that I pinpointed as genetic modification. I don't consider myself crazy though, I'm glad things are under control now.
Luminesce: I'll make one last note very clear, real quick.
The people with schizophrenia who were hurt by practicing tulpamancy were hurt because they had belief in and attachment to their tulpa, but their tulpas "fell victim to", "were taken over by", or simply were themselves innately conducive to, invasive thoughts caused by schizophrenia.
You are not necessarily safe from this at any given point, so you need to remember that tulpamancy should never cause you distress and you need to drop your immersion in it if even your tulpa's behavior ever affects you negatively.(edited)
It's not on topic for this channel and probably not appropriate at all (outside of DMs)(edited)

Namely because this isn't a problem a random person on the internet can help someone with, we're not qualified to give therapy and such for actual disorders.
I know in other cases this kind of questioning could help you help someone, but dealing with real diagnosed disorders is outside of our jurisdiction, here.
(Meaning, I can't let you try within the server even if you want to)

If Dan particularly wants to talk about said experiences, it could go in #general-discussion, though I will have to stop it if people get armchair-doctor-y

Coincidentally it happened to my brother this week. As everyone said, it's normal. We change things from time to time to match our experiences, just like any person do.
The rest of us will need to take some time to get used again, though... Since his old name was with him from the very beginning. Almost a decade.
But, it just... Happens.
